Description

Spend the afternoon exploring canyons and deciphering ancient petroglyphs as you learn about local folklore from your dedicated Conservation Guide. Unique photo opportunities can be found at unique rock formations forming human-like shapes. Feel in awe as you get up close to canyons etched with inscriptions serving as a time capsule for all the civilizations that called AlUla home in the past. Marvel at the wonder of hexagonal shapes forming an extraordinary landscape. As the sun shares its last rays with Sharaan, sit atop one of the canyons and overlook a vast valley while sipping on a refreshing drink and enjoying delicious canapes. On a nocturnal eco walk, try and look for local wildlife and creatures using UV lights under the guidance of your expertly trained Conservation Guide. Dinner is a traditional South African 'braai' set in a magically-lit canyon. Embrace a cooking style similar to an Arabic grill but with more hearty dishes infused with exquisite aromas and flavours. As darkness has completely settled and the sky lights up with stars, sit back and be immersed in a stargazing session, complete with a telescope and an astronomy talk.

Pick-up from AlUla hotels in a Land Rover Defender 130 between 02:30 PM and 04:00 PM, depending on the season. Arrive at the Sharaan Nature Reserve and receive your stainless steel water bottle to take home. Explore the Reserve as you embark on a safari through the canyons and valleys, with several opportunities to stop and explore. At sunset, embark on a short hike up a canyon to be greeted with a breathtaking scene of a vast valley and canyons. Venture into nature with your dedicated Conservation Guide and UV lights as you try to spot nighttime creatures and learn about why they are so important to the ecosystem. Indulge in a four-course meal that consists of a South African-style 'braai' completed with grilled meats, vegetables and sides. Retreat to the lounging area and listen to tales of the night sky with an immersive stargazing session. Return to the hotel between 09:30 PM and 11:00 PM, depending on the season.
